Ryk's First Halloween
Ryker's Firsts
Our Growin' Boy
Ryker's First Week of Life.
While I was in labor with Ryker at the old hospital, Byron's grandfather was in the new hospital. He had been diagnosed with Leukemia and we were told he wasn't going to make it through the night. It was the saddest thing. I felt horrible because Byron's mom came to sit with us while I was in labor while her dad was in the other hospital. I told her to go and be with him. Grandpa made it through the night! We weren't for sure how much time we would have with him. Tuesday morning around 8:30 I sent Byron over with pictures of Ryker so grandpa would at least be able to see his great grandson. I was released Wednesday late afternoon and we headed straight over to see him so he could finally meet Ryker.
Grandpa was so excited to see him. I was so glad we made it over so they could finally meet face to face. All through my pregnancy Grandpa would ask me if I was ever going to have him! Ryker was his 7th great grandchild. Grandpa Smith passed away on June 7, 2012.
ITS A BOY!!! INTRODUCING RYKER WAYNE REEVES!!
I panicked!! I was home alone laying in my bed and my water broke!! And even worse when I would call Byron to come home he couldn't answer his phone! I made it to the bathroom and was trying to convince myself that my water had not broken, I had simply just peed a little bit. Thankfully Byron made it home and loaded the car and we were off!!
I got to the hospital at about 11am. The checked me and I was only at a 1 but because my water had broke they had to admit me. The afternoon flew by. My mom and Byron were with me the whole day. I don't know what I would have done without them honestly. My labor wasn't too bad. They had to put me on Pitocin to help my labor progress. Ryker was posterior so it took forever for his head to turn the right way. I went 13 hours of natural child birth when finally my whole world changed for the better....
RYKER WAYNE REEVES was born June 5, 2012 at 1:31 in the morning. He was 6lbs 12oz and 19in long. He had dark curly hair and was the most beautiful baby boy I had ever seen. As soon as they handed him to me, everything in the room at that moment stood still. He didn't even cry. He just looked at me and knew I was his momma. I fell in love so fast. He was the perfect baby.
Special thanks to Dr. Brady Benham and the amazing labor & recovery nurses that helped deliver our boy!!
Oh it's only been 8 months since a post......
We have had the craziest, funnest and most memorable last few months. Let me catch you up......
We moved out of our very spacious 6 bedroom house by the college to a very... cozy... 2 bedroom condominium at the end of April. I was relieved we were able to find something so soon before I had the baby. It's nice. It reminds me of our first home in Wyoming. I don't really care for the neighborhood except for the fact that it's down the street from my grandparents. We got everything moved in and unpacked within a weeks time.
The further I got in my pregnancy it seemed like time was slowing down and that my baby boy was NEVER going to come!! I was on my feet 24/7, I was walking constantly and nothing was happening! My feet didn't even swell! I was going to the Doctor every week and she never had any new news about if I was progressing at all. It sucked!! I went to the Doctor on May 31, the day before my due date, and of course Dr. Winward had no news except for the fact that she was going to Hawaii for a week and that if nothing happened while she was away she would then induce me when she got back.. GREAT!
My due date came and went. It was very disappointing to know/expect something to arrive but it doesn't and you've waited 9+ months for it. I knew though as soon as my Dr. left I would deliver. I thought for sure Ryker wasn't going to come till later because the dr moved my due date to the 11th. Byron and I went to the movies with my mom, Kolin and Kylee to see The Avengers. I had already seen it once and loved it, so we went with them. As soon as the movie started that's when the contractions started!! Did I say anything to anyone? No. I was not going to miss the movie!
Every time I woke up in the night to go to the bathroom I would be having a contraction from the moment I woke till the moment I laid back down. I finally told Byron that I had been having contractions all night the following morning. Him kind of joking, kind of not said "That's because you're going to go into labor today!!" and then he left for work. I called my mom while I was laying in bed and just told her what was kind of going on. And then when my contraction started.... my water broke.......
